Maeve Hanna is a writer and curator based in Treaty 7 Territory (Calgary, Alberta) Canada. Her writing has appeared in national and international art periodicals and academic journals including BlackFlash Magazine, C Magazine, Canadian Art, esse arts + opinions, Frieze, Sculpture Magazine and The Senses and Society (Routledge, UK). Her creative non-fiction has been featured in the Globe & Mail and on North by Northwest, CBC. Hanna is the Calgary Correspondent for Akimblog with Akimbo. In 2018, she was a participant of the Critical Art Writing Ensemble Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff, Alberta. In May 2019 she will participate in a self directed writing residency at Casa Lü in Mexico City.
Hanna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours in Visual Arts and Literature from York University (Toronto) and the University of Leeds (UK) and a Master of Arts in Art History from Université du Québec à Montréal and the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg) on location in Iceland.
