Maeve Hanna is a writer and curator based in Calgary, Alberta (Mohkínstsis, Treaty 7 territory), Canada. Her writing has appeared in national and international art periodicals and academic journals including BlackFlash Magazine, Border Crossings, C Magazine, Canadian Art, esse arts + opinions, Frieze, the Los Angeles Review of Books, Sculpture Magazine and The Senses and Society (Routledge, UK). Hanna is the Calgary Correspondent for Akimblog with Akimbo. In 2018, she was a participant of the Critical Art Writing Ensemble Residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, Banff, Alberta and in Spring 2019 she was writer-in-residence at Onelove in New Orleans, LA.
Hanna holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours in Visual Arts and Literature from York University (Toronto) and the University of Leeds (UK) and a Master of Arts in Art History from Université du Québec à Montréal and the University of Manitoba (Winnipeg) on location in Iceland. In Fall 2019 Hanna will return to school for a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Naropa University, the Jack Kerouac School for Disembodied Poetics in Boulder, CO.
